North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University Students have taken to twitter to voice their concerns after a noose was found on their campus Tuesday.
The Noose was detected by a North Carolina A&T staff member at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering. Greensboro Police as well as law enforcement from both North Carolina A&T and the University of North Carolina Greensboro worked to find the culprit responsible for hanging the noose.
After Investigation the law enforcement found that an “outside” contractor was responsible for placing the Noose at the North Carolina A&T school facility.
The contractor spoke to the Authorities and stated that he planted the noose as a “joke”. The contractor has since been fired and will not be allowed to work in association with either of the major Greensboro Universities.
North Carolina A&T Chancellor, Harold L. Martin Sr., released a message to his students late Tuesday afternoon via email.
North Carolina A&T students have been notable upset regarding the incident on Tuesday and some have even voiced their opinions on social media.
North Carolina A&T, is the largest public Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in the country. With the University’s total enrollment exceeding 11,150 students and with the majority of these students being African American, the noose incident has illuminated pressing questions about students’ safety on campus in this new political climate.
